Membership at Second Baytown is about belonging — choosing to grow in faith, serve with purpose, and walk in community as part of our church family. It's not about a status or a title. It's about saying this is my home and these are my people, and stepping into the everyday rhythms of what that looks like.

Who Can Join

Anyone can become a member of Second Baytown. We start talking about membership in our student ministry, and the door stays open at every stage of life from there. Whether you've been here for years or you're new to faith, there's a path for you.

The class walks through our mission, our values, our leadership, and what we believe. By the end, you'll have what you need to vote with us and step into shared decisions as a member.

The final step is being voted in at one of our business meetings, where the church family officially welcomes you in. It's a celebration — show up, say yes, and you're home.

Members are family. That means regular communication, real pastoral care, and someone showing up when life is hard. Specifically, you can expect:

Communication

You'll get regular updates on what's happening in the life of the church so you can stay connected, informed, and ready to show up.

Care

Our pastoral team shows up for members through hospital visits, homebound visitation, and personal support whenever life gets hard or complicated.

Community

Membership plugs you into a church family that knows you by name and walks with you through every season, good or hard.

Opportunities

Members get clear next steps to serve on a team, lead a group, and grow into the gifts God has given them.

Questions & Upcoming Classes

Membership is a meaningful step, and most people walk in with questions. Here are the ones we hear most often.
Do I have to be baptized to be a member?
We encourage every member to be baptized, and we'll walk you through it if you haven't yet. Reach out and we'll talk through your story.
How long does the process take?
The membership class is a single session. From there, you'll be voted in at our next business meeting — so usually a few weeks from start to welcome.
Can students become members?
Yes. We start the membership conversation in our student ministry, and many students take that step before graduating.
What if I'm already a member of another church?
We'd love to talk it through. Some people transfer their membership from another church; others come from a tradition where membership works differently. We'll figure out the right next step together.
