Baptism

A public step of faith.

Baptism is a public declaration of faith — an outward picture of the inward change that happens when someone follows Jesus. It doesn't save you, but it tells the story of being saved. At Second Baytown, baptism is one of the most meaningful steps a believer can take, and we love getting to celebrate it together.

Who Baptism Is For

Baptism is for anyone who has committed their life to Christ and hasn't yet been baptized. There's no age requirement — but we do want to make sure the decision is real, understood, and personal.

For adults, that conversation happens one-on-one with a pastor. For kids, we walk through our Start Here Class together, which helps families discern readiness and understand what baptism means.

If you have children who aren't ready to make their own profession of faith, we also offer Parent Dedications — a chance to commit to raising them in faith as a family. Reach out and we'll help you find the right path.

Tell Us You're Ready

Fill out the Baptism Interest Form or use the connect card to let us know. Someone from our team will reach out to set up a conversation.

Meet With Us

Adults sit down with a pastor; kids and families walk through the Start Here Class. We'll talk through your story, what baptism means, and confirm next steps together.

Baptism Day

Pick the service you'd like to be baptized in. Bring a change of clothes, invite the people you want there to celebrate with you, and we'll take care of the rest — including a baptism shirt for you to keep. We'll send you the final details ahead of time.

Questions & Upcoming Baptisms

Baptism is a big step, and most people walk in with questions. Below are the ones we hear most — and the dates of our next Baptism Sundays, so you can find one that works for you.
Do I need to be a member to be baptized?
No. Baptism is a step of faith, not a step of membership. You don't have to belong to be baptized here.
Can my child be baptized?
Yes — as long as they've personally committed their life to Christ. We walk every family through the Start Here Class to make sure the decision is theirs.
Do you baptize by immersion or sprinkling?
Immersion. We believe immersion best reflects the picture of baptism in Scripture.
What if I was already baptized somewhere else?
That's a one-on-one conversation. There are times when baptism again is meaningful and recommended — we'll talk through your story together.
Does baptism save me?
No. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus alone. Baptism is the public step that follows.
