A Place Where Kids Belong

Children matter deeply at Second Baytown. Our goal is to help kids discover God’s truth in ways that are engaging, meaningful, and fun. Every child is welcomed, known, and encouraged to grow in their faith.
Our Children’s Ministry is designed to help kids experience God’s love in a safe and joyful environment. We partner with families to help children build a foundation of faith that will guide them throughout their lives.

A Place for Every Stage

Children from birth through 5th grade have age-appropriate environments designed just for them. Each stage helps kids grow in their understanding of God while building friendships with caring leaders and other children their age.

Nursery

Birth - 2 Years

Your youngest children are welcomed into a nurturing environment designed for safety, comfort, and care. Leaders focus on helping babies and toddlers feel secure while parents participate in worship knowing their children are well cared for.

Preschool

Ages 2 - Kindergarten

Preschoolers begin discovering foundational truths about God through stories, songs, and hands-on activities. Leaders create engaging environments that help children learn about God’s love while building early friendships and confidence in a group setting.

Elementary

1st - 3rd Grade

Elementary kids explore the Bible through engaging lessons, activities, and conversations that help them understand how faith connects to everyday life. Leaders guide children as they begin asking questions and growing in their understanding of God.

Preteen

4th - 5th Grade

Preteens experience teaching and conversations designed specifically for their stage of life. Leaders help them begin thinking more deeply about faith, friendships, and following Jesus as they prepare for the next phase of their spiritual journey.

When Kids Gather

Children have two main opportunities each week to grow in faith and connect with friends. One happens during Sunday morning services, and another takes place Sunday evenings during the school year.

KidVENTURE — Sunday Morning Program

8:30 AM | 10:00 AM | 11:30 AM

Kidventure happens during every Sunday worship service and provides engaging environments where kids learn about God through teaching, activities, and connection with leaders.

Kids Club — Sunday Evening Gathering

5:30–7:30 PM

Kids Club is a Sunday evening gathering during the school year where children grow in faith while building friendships with others their age. Through the trusted AWANA and Nehemiah curriculums, kids experience biblical teaching, engaging activities, and fun experiences that help them connect with others while growing in their relationship with God.

Helping Kids Take Next Steps

Children grow in faith through experiences designed for both kids and families. These opportunities help kids understand what it means to follow Jesus and allow parents to walk alongside them in their spiritual journey.

Start Here Class

Start Here introduces children and parents to the basics of following Jesus. Families learn together about faith, salvation, and how kids can begin their journey of trusting and following Jesus.

Baptism Preparation

This class helps children understand salvation and baptism in ways that make sense for their age. Parents and children learn together about following Jesus and what it means to take the next step of faith.

Family Serve Days

Serve days allow families to work together as they help others and support the church community. These experiences teach children that faith includes serving others and making a difference alongside their family.

Summer Bash (VBS)

Our Vacation Bible School is called Summer Bash and it is an exciting week filled with teaching, music, activities, and fun experiences designed to help children discover God's truth and build friendships with other kids.

Seasonal Family Events

Family celebrations throughout the year bring parents and kids together for connection and fun. These include seasonal gatherings such as Christmas and fall events designed to help families celebrate and grow together.

Kids Club (AWANA/Nehemiah)

Kids Club meets on Sunday evenings during the school year. Designed around the AWANA and Nehemiah curriculums, kids experience biblical teaching, engaging activities, and fun experiences that help them connect with others while building a strong, Biblical foundation.

Preteen Camp

Preteen Camp gives kids who have completed 3rd through 5th grade a special opportunity to grow spiritually while building friendships and experiencing time away together focused on faith and encouragement.

Child Dedication

Child dedication is a meaningful milestone where parents commit to raising their children in faith while the church family commits to supporting them along the journey.

A Safe Place for Your Child

You want to know your child is safe, cared for, and surrounded by trusted leaders. Thoughtful systems, trained volunteers, and secure check-in processes help create an environment where kids can learn, grow, and feel comfortable every time they attend.

Training

Leaders receive training that prepares them to guide children, create welcoming environments, and support families well while children are participating in weekly gatherings and activities.

Safe, Secure, and Welcoming

Your child’s safety matters. Clear processes help ensure children are cared for well while they are here and that families feel confident about the environment their kids are part of.

Secure Check-In

Children are checked in using a secure system that creates matching identification tags for both the child and their guardian. These tags help ensure safe pickup and help leaders know who belongs with each child.

Create Your Family Account

You can create a family account in Planning Center before arriving. This helps make Sunday check-in faster and allows your family information to be securely connected to your children’s check-in process.
