What We Believe

The beliefs we hold guide how we live, serve, and follow Jesus together as a church family.

At Second Baytown, our beliefs shape everything we do as a church. We believe faith is meant to be lived out daily through worship, community, service, and sharing the hope of Jesus with others. These truths guide how we live, how we serve, and how we walk together as followers of Christ.

worship

We believe every follower of Jesus is called to worship God with their entire life. Worship happens when we gather together in church services, but it also continues throughout the week as we honor God in our work, relationships, and daily choices.

Worship invites the presence of the Holy Spirit into our lives and transforms our hearts. As we focus our lives on Jesus, our priorities begin to change and our lives become centered on serving God and loving the people He loves.

connect

We were created to live in relationship with God and with one another. At Second Baytown, we believe spiritual growth happens best in community. Through friendships, groups, and shared experiences, we encourage one another and walk through life together as followers of Christ.

Serve

As we grow in our faith, we are called to serve others. Every member of Second Baytown is a minister, using the gifts and abilities God has given them to make a difference.

Serving may happen through church ministries, missions, or simple acts of care within our community. When we serve others, we reflect the love of Christ and help build a stronger church family.

Invest

We believe every believer is called to invest their life in God’s mission. This includes investing our time, our resources, and our relationships to help others discover the hope found in Jesus.

One of the greatest ways we invest is by caring about the people around us. By inviting others, building relationships, and sharing our faith, we help bring the message of Jesus to our community.

The Gospel

Life is a journey, and every person is searching for something to fill the deeper need of their soul. While many things promise meaning or fulfillment, only Jesus Christ can truly satisfy that longing.
Jesus is the source of peace, hope, and purpose. Through Him we find forgiveness, restoration, and a relationship with God. If you are interested in learning more about beginning a relationship with Jesus, we would love to walk alongside you.

Salvation

Salvation is God's free gift to us, but it must be received by faith. We cannot earn forgiveness through good works or self-improvement. When we trust in Jesus Christ as God's provision for our sin and turn from living life our own way, we receive forgiveness and new life. Eternal life begins the moment a person places their faith in Jesus.

Who Is God?

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and together are one Go

Who Is Jesus Christ?

Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of humanity by dying on the cross.
He rose from the dead three days later, demonstrating His power over sin and death. Jesus ascended into heaven and will one day return to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Who Is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He works in the world to help people recognize their need for Jesus.
When someone places their faith in Christ, the Holy Spirit comes to live within them. He provides guidance, spiritual understanding, strength for daily living, and equips every believer with spiritual gifts for serving God.

Baptism

Baptism is an act of obedience that follows a person’s decision to trust Jesus. It is a public declaration that someone has chosen to follow Christ. Baptism does not save a person but serves as a powerful symbol of the new life that begins when someone places their faith in Jesus.

Does Baptism Save You?

No. The Bible teaches that salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”
— Ephesians 2:8–9
