1 Corinthians 12, reminds us that we are all part of the body of Christ. Each of us, uniquely gifted and called by God’s Spirit according to His purpose. While we all look different, act different and function differently, we are still part of the body and most importantly, an essential part of the body. The gifts and talents we possess are given to us by God to be used for His purpose, and in the way He wants us to use them to help build His kingdom. Our gifts and talents are affirmed by those around us who empower us to use them in what God is calling us to do.

The New Testament also tells us over and over that we are called and set apart and God wants us to use what He has given us to build His kingdom. As a member of a local church your gifts and talents were given to you to be used. Christ established the church as a lighthouse to those who are seeking Him for salvation and a refuge from life’s storm. Know, that as a member of the body, you are a very essential part of that body and the church needs your special gift to be all that Christ wants it to be.

The local church cannot be as strong and effective without you and your gifts and talents being used to grow it.. Think about asking God to use you this week in the local body of believers we call the church to make a difference in the lives of others.

Consider praying this prayer: Holy Spirit, who has calls us and sets us apart, help me serve according to Your plan and design. Use me as You will as I surrender to you today…. in Jesus’ name, amen.
