“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10

Happy New Year!  For most people, the reality of the new year has set in.  People are back to work…kids are back in school…millions of Americans have headed back to the gym to work off extra holiday pounds…and unfortunately for some…Christmas bills will soon hit their mail or inboxes.

For many people this time of year, the holiday euphoria has given way to the reality that they are “maxed out” and overwhelmed.  Whether it’s too much food…too much debt…too little time off…or too much stress in relationships…lots of folks are looking for hope for their “maxed out” lives.

The good news is that Jesus Christ does offer hope for all that we face in the scripture above from John chapter 10.  Although the enemy’s plan is to rob us of joy, peace and hope…the power of Jesus Christ will help us to live the “abundant life” if we will turn to him in 2014.

At Second Baytown, we are spending the month of January in a new series called “Maxed Out: Making Changes for What Matters Most.”  Come each week and hear how we can make Jesus our focus in life, health, money, relationships and our daily lives.
