“Children are a gift from the Lord…a reward from Him.” Psalm 127:3
(An Open Letter to Alexis C. Stafford…Class of 2013)
My mind is being flooded with nostalgic memories of you in recent days.
I’ve been thinking about the Sunday morning that you made your entrance to this world and how happy we were to see you. I’ve thought about your pre-school, kindergarten, eating Top-parts (she couldn’t say Pop Tarts) learning to ride a bike, dance recitals, family camp, cheerleading, D-NOW events at church, choir concerts…and so much more.
There are many things to love about you…Here are just a few…
I could tell you that I love your hilarious sense of humor…but there’s something much more important.
I could tell you that I love how hard you worked to make good grades…but there’s something much more important.
I could tell you that you’ve been a faithful friend and role model to many other kids…but there’s something much more important.
I could tell you that you have brought your mom and me joy for over 18 years now…but there’s something much more important.
And although I could say many things about you…our sweet daughter, the most important thing that I can tell you is you truly love Jesus…fully and openly.
So here’s to you…Alexis… “the one in the middle…” Thank you for loving Jesus…He will never leave you or forsake you. As one of your favorite scriptures reminds us every day… “Set your minds on things above…not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:2
Your future is bright because of your love for the One who holds your future. You have been a bigger blessing than you know…
You are loved…Dad
